This 1930s chiffon dress has a beautiful rose pattern print and features delicate champagne coloured lame detail. It is cut in a classic bias cut shape, with a lightly weighted cowl neck finish. The fabric is an ever so slightly sheer chiffon in a deep black colour, with a pink rose lame design that repeats with several different sizes of the same rose. It has a beautiful V shaped seam detail to the front and under the bust, with delicate cap sleeves and a narrow waistbelt with a small, bow shaped diamante clasp. The dress is cut longer at the back than at the front, which creates a beautiful, train like effect to the rear hem. For a dress of this age, it is an exceptional example; in wonderful vintage condition without fault. There are no issues with the fabric and it appears unaltered. Unlabelled but a well-made couture piece from the period.
The timeless appeal of lame and a classic design make it perfect for modern day dressing, either for a formal occasion or as part of a more everyday outfit, as shown on our model. Sally is a UK size -10 and had some fun showing us how versatile this piece is dressed down with a leather belt and boots! Due to its bias-cut shape, it would best suit a size 8 to small 12 UK, or 4-8 US.
